SCAD Savannah Film Festival

Multiple venues across Savannah — SCAD theaters, Lucas Theatre, Trustees Theater

One of the largest college film festivals in the world, hosted by SCAD. The 2026 festival runs October 24–31 with screenings, panels, Q&As, and special events at theaters and historic venues across the city. Many screenings are free or low-cost and open to the public.

Getting there

Most venues are walkable from the Historic District. Street parking is available near the Lucas and Trustees theaters on Abercorn Street.

The Savannah Southern Half Marathon runs through the Historic District's squares and streets on November 14, 2026. The course winds through some of Savannah's most scenic neighborhoods, with the start and finish near Forsyth Park.

Runners and spectators. A great weekend for visitors who want to see the city's streets closed to traffic and lined with supporters.

Getting there

Forsyth Park is walkable from most Historic District and Victorian District rentals. Parking near the start/finish is limited on race morning — plan to walk.

St. Patrick's Day

Savannah's St. Patrick's Day celebration is the second largest in the United States, drawing hundreds of thousands of visitors for a parade through the Historic District, live music, and a city-wide festival atmosphere that lasts the entire week.

The Historic District is closed to vehicles during the parade. Plan to walk or use rideshare drop-off points outside the closure zone.

When to visit for events

Spring (March–May)

The busiest and most festive season. St. Patrick's Day, the Tour of Homes, and warm weather make spring the most popular time to visit. Book early.

Summer (June–August)

Fewer major events, but outdoor concerts, farmers markets, and waterfront festivals continue. Rental rates are often lower than peak season.

Autumn (September–November)

The SCAD Film Festival (October) and comfortable temperatures make fall a strong second season. The Savannah Southern Half Marathon runs in November.

Winter (December–February)

Holiday events and candlelight tours in December; a quieter, more residential Savannah in January and February. Lower rates and fewer crowds.
